Early Friday morning, August 19th, 2011, a truck hauling our new Komo CNC machine pulled up to the front of our building and ever since then our facility has been buzzing with excitement!

Moving a machine that weighs over 9 tons took expert care and coordination, but with the help of several forklifts and the guidance of our maintenance team, the Komo finally arrived in her new home. The journey of the Beast’s arrival was even featured in our local newspaper. But, getting her in the building was the easy part.
Once the Komo was in position, our maintenance team began diligently working to get her hooked up and working properly. Then, when everything was in place, the Komo technician arrived to answer questions and perform a demonstration by giving the machine a good test run. Now, after hours of preparation and training, everything (and everyone!) is ready to take on the toughest projects.

Have you gotten your part quoted? Why wait? You could be saving a Beastly amount! Call us today at 800.544.3614 for your quote and start saving! We know you’ll be as excited as we are.

Discovering the wonders of nature is as easy as sitting in a field, surrounded by bison.

On August 6th, Airmate employees and their families were invited to enjoy an outing at Wild Winds Buffalo Preserve in Fremont, Ohio. Riding in wagons and a modified truck bed, the Airmate family sat amongst the herd and learned about the preserve’s 200+ bison and their extraordinary abilities. The guides explained that bison can reach a speed of 35 mph in only three steps and can vertically jump 6 feet. After the tour, everyone enjoyed a yummy lunch of buffalo and noodles and a chance to walk around the preserve’s facility.

Best Wishes on your retirement, Deb!

It is with both joy and sadness that Airmate announces the retirement of Deb Campbell, who has been a loyal member of the Airmate team for 29 years. Deb’s last day of service at Airmate was August 3, 2011.

When she first began working at Airmate, Deb worked in finger lifting. At that time, each piece was created by following a pattern and cut out by using a manual router. It was “prehistoric,” said Deb and much different than Airmate’s current computer operated process. When Airmate started offering part decoration, Deb took a position working in the print room. At first, the silk screens were washed out by taking them to the car wash. Later, a wash out location was constructed outside Airmate’s facility. Deb remembers cleaning out silk screens during the winter time. “We would put on our winter jackets and go wash the screens out outside,” recalled Deb. Airmate has since moved from “prehistoric to the modern age,” explained Deb, with numerous renovations and continual development.

Deb is grateful for the people she has met and the friendships she has made while working at Airmate. “You have a bond,” explained Deb. While working at Airmate, Deb also met her husband. Thirteen years later they were married.

Now that she is retired, Deb plans to use her time to transition into her new home. “My husband bought a new house last year and we hope to move into it by next year,” explained Deb. The process will keep her busy as she has to both clean and downsize. “I’m somewhat of a pack rat. I keep everything,” explained Deb. “I’m kind of a Girl Scout-‘Be prepared.’ You never know what you’ll need.”

In whatever spare time she can find, Deb plans on visiting the local Humane Society to spend time “mingling with the animals.” Deb loves animals and dreams of someday building her own no-kill shelter. “That would be next to heaven,” described Deb. “If I had that I wouldn’t care about anything else.”

Airmate will miss Deb’s passion and smile, but is excited for her as she begins this new chapter.
